White Lion is undoubtedly the most majestic creatures, they are even more impressive when they seem to know how fabulous they are. Few images of a rare white lion have been doing rounds on the internet.
The white lion named Moya is currently residing at the Glen Gariff Lion Sanctuary in South Africa. His luscious hair will leave you amazed. This six-year-old lion’s images were captured by a photographer named Simon Needham.
While speaking to News18, Simon stated that he was stunned by Moya’s looks. It was difficult to get close to him but his coat was truly mesmerizing. He also stated that it is difficult to appreciate such beauty with your eyes while working i.e. clicking pictures. But, he later realized that those pictures were purely outstanding.
There are several white lions living at the conservation center in South Africa, though they are extremely rare in the wild. Every lion’s distinct color is due to their genetic mutation. Two recessive genes must be present for a usual golden lion to go albino.
Simon further stated that he was assisted by the director of the sanctuary, Suzanne Scott. He also hopes that these pictures will help in raising awareness not only about the plight of lions in the wild but also about the sanctuary. Several conservation plans need to be made to save such beautiful animals that are on the brink of extinction.
According to Whitelions, there are around 300 white lions remaining. The white skin color mutation occurs specifically in South African lions. That condition is known as leucism. Leucism is a form of albinism but is not exactly albinism.
